Cycling
In Janurary 2007 I decided I wanted to ride the length of the south island of New Zealand on my push bike. A total of 1100kms. The ride took 2 weeks, and was amazingly fun.

Photos. Each year the Association for Computing Machinery hosts a programming competition for university students, the International Collegiate Programming Competition.
The contest pits teams of three university students against eight or more complex, real-world problems, with a grueling five-hour deadline. Huddled around a single computer, competitors race against the clock in a battle of logic, strategy and mental endurance.
Over 3 years during university I competed in this competition, with two of my close friends (Michael Szewczyk and Audun Ellertson) with varying levels of success. In 2004 we came 6th in Brisbane, and 22nd in South Pacific. In 2005 we came first in Brisbane, placing 6th overall in South Pacific. In 2006 we successfully defended our Brisbane title, however, only managed to increase our South Pacific ranking to 5th place.
